SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

When submitting content to be reviewed for publication on any of the sites in the Brand Shamans Content Community, these are the guidelines to be aware of.

Main Goal: Be You

The main goal of us and our writers should be to create and provide quality content speaking our own minds and catered to the appropriate audience for the topic. We practice freedom of speech and we do not censor our writers or readers (except when it comes to hate speech, violence, or illegal activities). Your content should be your own honest viewpoint. We advocate for writers, whether we have similar or different viewpoints. The word W.A.V.E. in our writer site, Write W.A.V.E. Media stands for Writing Advocacy Visible Everywhere. Our writers can advocate for their causes and beliefs.

General Guidelines

All written content must be 100% created by you. We do accept previously-published work, as long as it is 100% created by you and you still have the permission to publish said content.

All writers should do their best to use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation in English (all dialects). We do not fully support other languages at this time, but hope to have the resources to do so in the future. We do occasionally accept content in French or Spanish. We will correct minor typos and grammatical errors. But your opinions and voice should shine through and your piece should be publish-ready. We will not accept content that requires more than very minor corrections.

We have a preference for The Yahoo! Style Guide: The Ultimate Sourcebook for Writing, Editing, and Creating Content for the Digital World. It is not required, as long as your content is grammatically correct and written well. However, all titles and headlines must be in title casing. Please do not use journal and essay styles used in most formal education, as web writing has different parameters.

Word Count and Related Post Requirements

There is no word count minimum or maximum, within reason. One sentence is not an article. But a poem may only be a few lines. Use your best judgement. Here at at Brand Shamans Content Community, we trust our writers.

Topics We Accept

Topics are 100% up to you and we have many websites to accommodate for just about any topic. We exist as a form of expression to writers. Please feel free to write your personal opinions, advocate for causes, help people figure out things, and more. Provided you are not threatening or harming yourself or others (and you follow all applicable laws), you are free to write about anything you’d like. If you feel we do not have an appropriate category for your topic on any of our sites, please Contact Us to see if it’s one we can add.

Image & Photo Usage, Permissions, and Guidelines

We will attach an appropriate photo to your content, if accepted. We are no longer accepting photo submissions nor photos along with submissions, aside from the author bio photo, which should be a photo of yourself (NOT an avatar, pet, cartoon, etc without you in it) that you have permission to use and publish.

Author Bios

You will be required to provide a short author blurb or bio. You should also include a small photo of yourself. Pets and family members can be in the photograph, as long as you are also included. You may include up to two outside links in your author blurb. We recommend your website, online resume, or social profiles in this space.

Promotional Hyperlinks

We welcome and encourage hyperlinks to your other work, as long as there is value to the post and links are sensibly placed. Spam will not be tolerated. For instance, a how-to piece is fine. Linking to related material is also acceptable. But just talking about how great your website is will not be of value to readers and will be rejected. Obviously, you will draw in the most readers if your post consists of more text than ad content, is easy and interesting to read, and is done in an organized fashion. For Sponsored Guest Post Submissions, you are allowed up to three links within the content and two in your author bio. Links may be promotional for this type of post. However, we have the right to reject links to websites we deem as inappropriate, sites that contain scams or illegal content, sites that do not align with our audience, etc.

Rights and Permissions

By providing us with your content, you are granting Brand Shamans Content Community permission to display it on any or all sites in our network, as well as our partner network. You are also agreeing that you are the owner and creator of said content and have the proper rights/license to grant us the right to display said content.

This right you grant us to display said content does not transfer ownership to us, but does grant us a display license to place said content on one or more sites in our network and partner network, as permitted by you, the owner of said content by going through with the submission process. You still remain the copyright holder and hold the right to display your content wherever you deem applicable. We may, at any time, display your content on any properties involved with Brand Shamans Content Community, which includes our network of sites and our partner network of sites. However, we will not sell, distribute, or license your content to third parties without your permission.

If a third party approaches us with interest in purchasing rights to your content, we will contact you. This does happen on occasion, giving you a way to earn from your content if and when it arises. The display rights you grant us extend only to the venues mentioned above, which include this website, as well as those listed on Brand Shamans Content Community.

Note that we may or may not publish your submitted content and we may remove it at any time after publication at our sole discretion. We strictly adhere to copyright laws, including (but not limited to) the DMCA and will not tolerate copyright violations or plagiarism. All content is scanned for plagiarism and is expected to adhere to these laws and we will act as necessary if anything questionable is detected.
