In the book of Genesis, in the first paragraph it states that "God created the Heavens and the Earth", and it goes on to say that the Earth was formless and empty. And God said "Let there be light", and He saw that the light was good. There has been this ongoing war of words as to the origin of the universe with some saying that the "big bang" brought forth the universe and there is no "God" who oversees all. The religious scholars put their faith in the writings of Genesis with God being the maker of all, and insist that man was made in the image of the Almighty. This debate has taken on all forms of life with some states outlawing the teaching of evolution as scientists have envisioned it in lieu of traditional religious teachings. Before scientists made great strides in technology, the majority of the people were content with the words of the good book. But now science has made it possible to question those words. Scientists now question God's parting of the Red Sea and now say the feat was achieved by a weather phenomena and not from a "blast of His (God's) nostrils," as told in the Bible. And it didn't help matters that science and technology couldn't find any remnants of Noah's Ark nor the Ark of the Covenant. In other words, scientists have not been able to authenticate any stories in the Bible thus making some of them skeptical of some of the events. I say some of them because believe it or not, statistics show that 3 out of 5 scientists believe in God. Someone asked me what if you died and there was no Heaven after believing all your life that there was? My answer, would that be so bad? You really wouldn't know about it anyway, and if you spent your life trying to uphold the righteous teaching laid out in the Bible, then it made you a better person. Can anybody answer the question as to why we are the only living souls in the universe, at least as far as we know? Scientists are trying to tackle that question everyday and so far there's nothing saying for sure that we aren't alone in this space time continuum just as nothing says we are. We don't know for sure if there is a God, and this is where the word "faith" comes in. Science can back up their findings with facts and equations, while those of strong religious faith have the Bible, which has been rewritten numerous times, and that strong faith to fight off the naysayers. In the world today, there are a great many religions, and every one has their version of a Bible. While they would be quick to say that their version is the right one, the real sum of all these totals is that we all worship one God no matter what He's called. Even Albert Einstein saw that religion and science complemented one another, but both parties are going to have to give a little because after all, we are all praying that science can save this planet.
